Today I am going to review Amway, which is a massive corporation and is very well known all around the world. There have been any number of Amway ladies who sell door to door as well as online sellers who take a more subtle approach. The company was launched in 1959 and was created by Rich Devos and Jay Can Andel.
Both these founders always had the dream to own their own business. Amway sells everything from beauty products to health and wellness products designed for every lifestyle. It’s been 50 years and the company is still going strong. It has now spread to over a 100 countries worldwide. Amway is actually the highest revenue producing network marketing company at the moment.
There are four fundamental rules that Amway goes by. These are simple and pretty self explanatory. They are Freedom, Family, Hope and Reward. The whole philosophy is based on the fact that affiliates with Amway find themselves to be free because they will be financially independent and able to pick up their own expenses. The second one means that Amway employees and affiliates are treated like family and this one really encompasses the ideas of the company. All the associates are together and feel like they have a great support system while they sell products.
Amway has become about much more than selling things, which is why they also have Hope featured in their philosophy. This means that every seller, while being connected to the company, should stay hopeful of their rewards. And of course, the next one is Reward, which means the financial compensation associates are entitled to after hitting their minimum sales requirement.
Now let’s talk about what Amway actually sells. The company’s most popular selling beauty product is their Artistry line which includes a range of foundations, concealers and powders among others. They also sell rich eyeshadow pigments which are available to buy in quads and can be ordered online. New consumers are roped in because of the door to door service that exists when an Amway salesperson shows up with samples. You can later order the products to your home.
Amway sells mainly to middle class and high end consumers since their products are definitely on the pricey side. They also sell more industrial products such as detergent and household necessities. These would be more cost efficient if bought from the grocery store, but their distributors can convince you otherwise.

Speaking of distributors, Amway offers affiliate roles to anyone. Once you sign up, you have to constantly keep recruiting new and fresh salespeople to create your own downline. The issue with Amway is that if you run out of new recruits, your sales will start falling and hence you will start actively losing money. However, if you know how to recruit the right kinds of people, sponsor and then train them, you will understand how to make a lot of money with Amway.
The reason so many people fail is because they don’t understand how to rope in other members to be part of their downline. And then your team has to keep duplicating what you’re doing since that’s the only way you’ll be able to have mass success. If their results are similar to yours, you are bound to get more money out of it.
Some people call Amway a scam because they seem to offer promises of real success even though a lot of that is dependent on your personality, sales acumen and training. The training that Amway offers you is not sufficient to guarantee you a lot of profits and yet the company says you will be successful. This is one of the reasons people think it’s a scam. Another one is that is requires affiliates to recruit constantly and this means that it might be mistaken for a pyramid scheme.
MLM is different from a pyramid scheme because it requires you to actively sell products and create a team. Inversely, pyramid schemes just ask you to recruit people endlessly, with the promise of commissions paid out to everyone in the team. Amway is not technically a pyramid scheme but it’s understandable that people might think so because of the way the compensation works.
The standoff comes between the fact that Amway products seem to be a hit with consumers while their distributors don’t seem to be too impressed with them. People have done studies in which they recorded that 79% or more people would rather buy from Amway than sign up to become distributors. As well as that, there are a lot of people over the internet who have said they didn’t make any profits with Amway and would not urge others to sign up. If you’re interested in Amway, you can check it out but let me tell you, there are still better ways to make money.
There are other ways to get rid of your 9-5 and make money online without MLM’s, bother your family/friends, ponzi schemes and recruiting people!
Without sounding mean, you would probably like this system because it gives you a “blueprint” that grows without 3 way calls or spamming your facebook friends!
